Winter School
We offer a winter school program for the young researchers where they get to boost their knowledge by interacting with other researchers through group work, status updates, and team building activities.
The first winter school program took place from the 7th to the 11th of November, 2022. The accommodations were organized at Der Rindererhof in Hintertux, Austria. Participants traveled to the location via a joint journey by bus. The intensive agenda of the stay was organized by the young researchers themselves and focused on the EmpkinS sub-projects, on which the doctoral candidates presented their most recent results. The keynote speakers for this year’s winter school were Prof. Dr. Albrecht Schmidt of the Human-Centered Ubiquitous Media Group at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, and Prof. Dr. Christian Waldschmidt of the Institute of Microwave Engineering at the University of Ulm.
From the 11th to the 15th of March, 2024 the second iRTG Winter School took place at Aalernhüs Hotel in St.-Peter-Ording. This time, the agenda provided workshops on scientific writing by Dr. Anna-Maria Liphardt and Media Training by Julia Binsack as well as an interactive talk from Dr. Tobias Eismann on “creativity in industry and research”. The doctoral candidates again presented the current state of their sub-projects. But unlike usual, the young researchers didn’t present their own project, but introduced the status update of another doctoral candidate. In addition to the scientific program, there was also time to explore the beautiful region of the North Sea. We visited the birds and seals in the Westküstenpark and had a great mudflat hiking tour together.
